Covered Single Number Bets

Here is a fun roulette system to use when you are hanging out at the casino having a good time and would like to play for a while and get a few free drinks. The way most people play, they have a good chance of going broke before the cocktail waitress even gets back. But if you work this system you should have a nice long stay, and stand a great chance of leaving with a profit.

The most exciting bet to win at a roulette table is a single number bet. It pays 35-1 and is the wager you want to win. They will bring a big old stack of chips over to pay you with when a single number hits. The trick then is to hit it without having that stack of chips that they pay you with be made up of all your losing bets on the same spin of the wheel. This is where most people go wrong.

Take a look at the middle column of numbers above. You will notice that there are only four red ones in that column. Those are the ones I like to bet on. (Alternatively, the far right column only has four black numbers. Those will do as well.)

The problem with betting single numbers is that it is a bit like winning the lottery. That means it doesn't hit very often. By betting on four numbers you quadruple your chances, but of course it costs four times as much. Just betting on those four numbers means it can be a while before they hit, the game can consequently become boring, and then you can start to feel the futility of it all. Sound familiar?

So for this system we will also be betting the other two columns. This gives us a lot of action and reduces our losses most of the time when the single numbers in the middle miss. It is a bit like roulette system number 2 on the previous page, except we are not chasing the zeros. When one of the outside columns hits that wager pays 2-1 and therefore makes a 1-bet profit on the column bets themselves. We lose the four bets in the middle in those instances, so that is only a 3 chip loss instead of a 4 chip loss. That result is the most common when playing this roulette system.

When a middle number hits it will either miss us and wipe out all our bets, or hit and they give us a big stack of chips. Man I tell you it is a beautiful thing when the right middle number hits. I have held all of the chips of my color on multiple occasions playing this system, and they had to start paying me in regular money chips. Since there are 8 numbers in the middle column that we are not betting, the odds are only 2-1 against us hitting when a number not on the outside columns hits. That isn't so bad for a wager that will pay a huge stack of chips. Of course, there is always that pesky zero again...

So what you do is bet an equal amount on the two columns and on each of the four inside numbers. As an added strategy you can watch to see when the zero is due and start betting the split zero (for an equal amount) as well. This adds an extra dimension to the system, but I have had good results doing it. Good luck!
