In general look to get an extra 5% for every half-point the line is off against you (and vice-versa) for American football and basketball. For over/unders just be willing to take +110 or more for any number within a couple of points of the going line consensus.

Don't commit more than 3% of your bankroll to any one event - ever - no matter how much you like the side you are on, or how good of odds you can finagle.
