Playing it Tough The one craps system that every serious player should have in their arsenal is known as the tough one. It is traditionally known by that name among the casino staff and craps dealers. The name infers that it is tougher to get the player's money when they play this way. If the casino staff think it's tough to beat, then you should give serious consideration to playing this way. Besides, it's fun. You will basically be doing the same thing that all the other players are doing; that is hoping for a hot shooter. You will make just as much as they do if the table gets hot. However you will lose less on a cold table, and will usually be giving less of it back when the shooter finally sevens out. That's a good combination. So here is what you do: 1. Bet the pass line. After a number is established take the full double or triple odds on the odds wager behind the line. (If by chance you are in one of those casinos that allows large odds bets like 10 x odds, just take as much as you can usually afford based on how many chips you have. Keep in mind you need a good amount of reserve chips to work this system, so don't go nuts. I usually don't take more than triple odds regardless of what they allow.) 2. Before the next roll place a bet equal in size to your pass line bet on the come bar. If another number is established take the full odds bet behind your come number on that as well. 3. Before the next roll place another equal sized bet on the come bar. If another number is established take the full odds on it as well. 4. When one of your come numbers hits, replace the come bar bet again before the next roll. 5. When your pass line bet wins, your odds bets will be off on the come bets. So if the next pass line number hits one of your come bets you will only win the even money portion of the wager. You get the odds bet back of course. That's cool, just use some of those chips they give you back to make the next come bar bet. (Using the come bar to establish extra numbers is still a better deal than making place bets.) 6. When you have one come number established and have another bet on the come bar, if that come number hits the dealer will give you a few chips and let you know that you are up and down on the come bar. So the same number is still live and you still have the come bar bet out, just take the few chips and put them in your rack. That is basically it. The goal is to have the pass line and two come numbers working. In the meantime some craps and elevens will roll which just pushes a few chips back and forth. When the shooter sevens out, start the process over again. Very often when the shooter does seven out, you will have a live come bar bet going which will win and offset your losses considerably. That is the real benefit to this system. Odds bets on established come numbers pay better odds than place bets. Of course the shooter has to roll them twice for you to establish the number and then get paid, but in the meantime you have the come bet as a measure of protection against the dreaded seven. When the table gets hot this system is a beautiful thing and those 3-2 odds bets on the 5 and 9 will really start adding up fast. So when do you quit? The goal is to make some money from a hot shooter or two. Consider switching to the next system after that happens. Also, it is rare to see even a red hot shooter hold the dice more than 15-20 minutes. So after 20 minutes consider not replacing your come bets and just let them all come down and wait for his streak to end. You made a bunch of money, so why get caught with chips on the table when that overdue seven rolls?
